Observation of World Day for Decent Work 2015

Domestic workers are playing an important role. Domestic workers perform a variety of household services for an individual or a family. OurHands means that empowering and protecting the rights of domestic workers is a collective responsibility. The OurHands campaign aims to inform domestic workers of their rights as enshrined in ILO Convention 189 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers.

The aims behind the celebration of the Decent Work Day:

-To uphold Rights and Dignity of Domestic Workers (DW)

-Call for the Universal Ratification for ILO Convention 189: Decent Work for Domestic Workers

-To reach to domestic workers across through social media and encourage them to share know-your-rights materials with other domestic workers

-Raise awareness among the mass population, Civil Society and Bangladeshi Government about Domestic Workers’ rights in order to prompt to action and effective measures

-Stand in solidarity with the domestic workers worldwide and their family members in the countries of origin.
